I hate to keep using Vicki McKenna’s podcast, but this one is too good not to share. Monday she interviewed Senator Johnson and it was music to this Libertarians ears, he told the government “TO GET OUT OF THE WAY!” Where have I heard those words . . . Gasp, could it be “Atlas Shrugged
First I will share thus clip of left-wing propagandist Keith Olbermann.

Atlas Shrugged fiction or prophesy?

There was a time when Ben Franklin’s words “A Penny Saved Is A Penny Earned” In Brand’s book those that lived in Paul’s Mulch rejected the monopoly money, rejected the Fed and returned to the gold and silver standard. I was one when the book came out and remember when silver was still used. One silver dime would buy you a coke and a candy bar. Gasoline was $0.25 a gallon, so a dime would buy you a little less than a half a gallon. The coins were approximately 90% silver and 10% copper. Based on the current rate for both metals you could still buy a coke and a candy bar or a half a gallon of gas with that same dime. Can the same be said for the funny money issued by the Fed? No they steal wealth from rich and poor using warm and fuzzy terms like “Quanitative easing.”

To make matters worse, if you own property in Wisconsin your taxes are probably higher than your property was worth 50 years ago. So in todays progressive system “A Penny saved is a  Penny Burned” You are better off going deal in debt ands paying it back with even more worthless money. The governments policies reflect this reckless attitude.

The video touches on Obamacare, that has been gone over so many times I won’t rehash it here, but the administration claims the authority through the commerce clause, so what was the founders intent when they framed that clause.

The original intent of the Commerce Clause was to make “normal” or “regular” commerce between the states; thus it was designed to promote trade and exchange not restrict it. Further, it was specifically aimed at preventing the states from enacting impediments to the free flow of “commerce” such as tariffs, quotas and taxes.

Recent moves by the administration clearly violate that intent. The PACT act clearly comes to mind.

the sale of illegal cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products significantly reduces Federal, State, and local government revenues, with Internet sales alone accounting for billions of dollars of lost Federal, State, and local tobacco tax revenue each year

If you look at those who crafted the legislation and you will see that this was a protectionist act. Not to foster competition and get the best deal for the consumer, but to protect the revenue stream of states inflicting excessive and abusive taxes inflicted by those states. I know, I know, it was about tobacco and many hate tobacco and don’t care if smokers get abused, but wait that was just a trial gallon, they are going after all internet sales under the warm and fuzzy name “Main Street Fairness Act

to require all remote sellers not qualifying for the small seller exception to collect and remit sales and use taxes on remote sales owed to each such member state under the terms of the agreement

In atlas shrugged this would be the equivalent of “the dog eat dog rule”

Life Liberty and Property.

“In the former sense, a man’s land, or merchandize, or money is called his property.

“In the latter sense, a man has property in his opinions and the free communication of them.

“He has a property of peculiar value in his religious opinions, and in the profession and practice dictated by them.

He has property very dear to him in the safety and liberty of his person.

“He has an equal property in the free use of his faculties and free choice of the objects on which to employ them.

James Madison

For the most part I am listing liberty regulated away during my lifetime but the next one is linked to the 90 year old DEATH TAX. But in my lifetime the added the GIFT TAX

A gift tax is a tax imposed on the gratuitous transfer of ownership of property.

When a taxable gift in the form of cash, stocks, real estate, or other tangible or intangible property

Don’t like banks, don’t even think of making large purchases with cash.

If you bring in more than $10,000 in cash or cash equivalents to your dealer he will present you with a Federal Form 8300 which will require things like your name, address, and social security number. Form 8300 is the real deal and presents serious legal consequences for both the buyer and the dealer

So not even your property is yours to use or dispose of as you see fit. Speaking of property The Smoking Bans are the government seizing private property for public use and dictating who businesses must cater to, much like the Jim Cro laws of the past. As a matter of fact this issue is being heard in the Ohio Supreme Court on the 19th. From the brief

Locke was clear that government, and the police
power in particular, were instituted to secure,
rather than to imperil, property rights: the power exists to
secure rights rather than to provide public goods, and its use is only legitimate insofar as it does so, while
leaving citizens with the enjoyment of “their properties in peace and safety.

Last the vast majority of the gun control laws were written in my lifetime. When I was young you could mail order guns out of the back of magazines, all you had to do was put a check in the box certifying that you were over 21.

So as you listen to Ron Johnson and he mentions the millions of pages of regulations realize that the majority of them were written in my lifetime.

Part 2

So while I am ticked at the recent actions of Scott Walker, after hearing Ron Johnson gives me hope for the Republican Party.
